Pilates the Way It Was Meant to Be
Experience a body transformation like never before.
The Studio
Pilates Close to the Source
At 40 Park Pilates, Pilates is taught as a method of control, precision, awareness, and restoration — not as another form of burn-based fitness.
Rooted in the original work of Joseph Pilates’ Contrology, the studio offers a slower, more thoughtful approach to movement. Here, the goal is not exhaustion. The goal is understanding.
Each class is designed to help the body move with more intelligence, strength, stability, and ease. With attention to alignment, breath, control, and purpose, students are guided toward a deeper relationship with their own bodies.
This is not fast fitness.
This is not performance for the room.
This is Pilates brought closer to its source.
A Different Kind of Pilates Studio
Exercise Should Preserve the Body.
Modern fitness often asks the body to do more, move faster, and push harder. At 40 Park Pilates, the question is different.
- Can the body move with control?
- Can the spine organize itself?
- Can strength develop without strain?
- Can movement become intelligent instead of forced?
The work is rooted in the classical principles of Pilates: control, concentration, precision, breath, flow, and whole-body integration.
Pilates should preserve the body, not wear it down.
You will not find loud music, rushed repetitions, or exercises performed for the sake of intensity. Instead, you will find careful instruction, thoughtful progression, and a studio environment built around learning.

The best Pilates in Rutherford — where strength meets precision.
Rooted in Contrology
Here, the goal is not exhaustion. The goal is understanding.
Joseph Pilates called his method Contrology — the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit. Before Pilates became a fitness trend, it was a system of movement education. At 40 Park Pilates, that origin is honored.
Every movement has a purpose. Every correction matters.
Every repetition is an opportunity to understand the body more clearly.
Fast Is Not Pilates
Studio Philosophy
At 40 Park Pilates, movement is practiced with patience, control, and respect for the body. The work does not chase exhaustion, glorify pain, or confuse speed with strength.
Pilates is not about doing more. It is about doing better.
The body changes when it is taught, not when it is punished.
About Spiro
Spiro is the owner and teacher behind 40 Park Pilates.
After years of chronic back pain, sciatica, and physical imbalance, Spiro found Pilates not as a fitness trend, but as a path back to movement.
What began as a personal search for relief became a lifelong study of Joseph Pilates' work, the history of physical culture, and the role of movement in restoring the body.
His teaching is shaped by classical Pilates training, years of studio practice, and a deep belief that the body does not need to be punished in order to become strong.
At 40 Park Pilates, Spiro teaches with patience, precision, and respect for the individual body. His work is rooted in the original spirit of Contrology: movement as education, awareness, and restoration.
My Pilates Rendezvous
The Missing Link in Modern Fitness
Written by Spiridon Alexander, My Pilates Rendezvous is a return to the original intelligence of Pilates — before the method was reshaped by modern fitness trends, speed, sweat, and the constant search for intensity.
Part personal journey, part teaching philosophy, and part reflection on the evolution of exercise, the book explores how Joseph Pilates' Contrology offers something many modern workouts have forgotten: a way to build strength through control, precision, awareness, and better movement.
This is not another fitness manual filled with endless routines.
It is a return to clarity. A return to purpose.
A return to the body as it was meant to move.
Because the goal is not to do more. The goal is to move better.
